The work I do

I help organisations make sense of complex change, work out what needs to change and turn that into a practical plan for delivery. I work across strategy, transformation, operating model design and programme recovery, often stepping in when a situation is complicated, important or simply isn't working as it should. My experience is particularly strong in financial services, where I've worked across regulatory change, financial crime, remediation, customer transformation, pensions and major business change. I can work at the strategic end, helping an executive team decide what to do, or get involved in the programme itself when experienced leadership is needed to make it happen.

Problems I solve

We have a complex regulatory or transformation problem, but no clear strategy or practical route forward. Our regulatory or remediation programme is not under control, and we need experienced leadership to stabilise and reset it. We have identified customer harm or a control failure, but we do not yet have a clear and defensible remediation strategy. There is plenty of programme activity, but no coherent end-to-end design connecting the customer outcome, operating model, data, technology, processes and controls. Our transformation is slipping, governance is weak and senior leaders do not have confidence that it will deliver. Senior stakeholders are not aligned on the scope, outcomes, priorities, ownership or decisions needed to move the transformation forward. We need to turn regulatory requirements into a workable business design across people, processes, technology, data, governance and controls. Our financial crime, fraud, AML or KYC transformation needs clearer direction and better alignment between policy, operations, technology, data and controls. A major change is approaching go-live, but the business is not operationally ready to own, govern and sustain it. We need experienced transformation leadership during a critical period, but we are not ready to make a permanent senior hire.

Who I work with

I work with executive teams, transformation leaders and programme sponsors who are dealing with a significant change or transformation and need experienced senior input. This might be an organisation deciding what it needs to do next, redesigning an operating model, starting a major transformation, dealing with a regulatory or financial crime issue, or trying to recover a programme that has lost its way. I'm particularly suited to financial institutions and other regulated organisations where the change is complex and the consequences of getting it wrong are significant.

What I bring

  • Strategic thinking and advisory, I bring senior, practical advice when the problem isn't straightforward and the organisation needs to decide what to do next. I've worked with senior stakeholders on complex transformation, regulatory and business-change questions where there are competing priorities, incomplete information and no obvious answer.
  • Transformation and operating model design, I design practical transformation approaches and operating models that connect strategy with how the organisation actually needs to work. This includes target operating models, governance, capabilities, processes, organisational change and the roadmap needed to move from the current state to the future state.
  • Programme recovery, I've stepped into programmes that have become difficult to control, helping senior stakeholders understand what is really going wrong, reset priorities and establish a more credible route to delivery. My experience includes complex regulatory and technology-enabled programmes involving large teams, multiple suppliers and significant delivery risk.
  • Regulatory and financial services transformation, My financial-services background means I can bring transformation experience together with an understanding of regulatory and operational requirements. I've worked across financial crime, AML/KYC, remediation, Consumer Duty, Section 166 programmes, pensions, fraud and other regulatory change.
  • Senior leadership and challenge, I provide an experienced senior perspective without needing to own every part of the delivery. I'm comfortable challenging the existing approach, working with executives and programme teams, and bringing different parts of an organisation together around a practical way forward.
