Why fractional beats the alternatives
Senior capability at a fraction of the cost, only when you need it.

Read the guide →Matched, not browsed
Our experts are not generalists for hire. Each has built focused fractional services around the areas they know most deeply, sometimes several. So when you describe a need, you are matched to someone who already understands your problem, and starts adding value far faster than a traditional hire who has to get up to speed first.
No structured brief required. Matching works by meaning, not keyword overlap. Your wording doesn't have to match theirs.
A consultant can hold up to four service profiles. Sometimes those are different areas they work in. Sometimes they are different ways to buy the same deep expertise: an hour of their time, a monthly retainer, a fixed piece of work, or a product you subscribe to. You see the ones that fit your need, so you can pick the level of commitment that suits you, not just the person. See Karen's 4 profiles →

The project management discipline growing businesses need, without building a full PMO
Projects rarely fail because nobody is working hard. They fail because ownership is unclear, decisions drift and delivery discipline disappears under day-to-day pressure. Matt Townley brings the structure, challenge and practical project management support businesses need, without forcing them into a heavyweight PMO.
“Most businesses do not need more project management process. They need enough discipline to make ownership clear, decisions stick and delivery keep moving.”Read the full story →

The Fractional Roster is built around what buyers actually ask for when they need fractional expertise: clear outcomes, relevant experience, commercial confidence and a faster route to the right person.
Questions?
What is a fractional expert?
A fractional expert is an experienced specialist engaged to solve a defined business problem, deliver an outcome or provide senior capability without becoming a full-time employee. They may work with you for a fixed project, a set number of days or on an ongoing fractional basis.
What kinds of problems can I bring to the Roster?
You can bring a specific requirement or a problem you have not fully diagnosed yet. Tell us what is happening, what needs to change and why it matters. You do not need to turn it into a formal requirements document before asking for help.
Do I need to know which role I need?
No. The Fractional Roster starts with the business problem, not a role title. Describe the outcome you need and we will surface experts whose experience and services are relevant to it.
How is this different from browsing a consultant directory?
You do not have to search through profiles and guess who might fit. You describe your challenge in plain language and the Roster surfaces a small number of relevant experts, with an explanation of why each one matches.
How is a fractional expert different from a freelancer?
The distinction is not simply how many hours they work. Fractional experts bring established judgement, specialist experience and accountability for a business outcome. You are engaging capability, not buying the cheapest available pair of hands.
How is this different from using a recruiter?
A recruiter usually fills a role and charges a placement fee. The Fractional Roster helps you solve a business problem by connecting you directly with relevant expertise. There is no six-week CV process and no percentage markup on the expert's rate.
Are experts employed by Greenlight?
No. The expert is an independent supplier and is responsible for agreeing and delivering the work. Greenlight operates the Fractional Roster, facilitates the introduction and manages eligible transactions through the platform.
How are experts assessed?
Profiles are structured around the problems an expert can solve, the outcomes they deliver and the evidence behind their experience. Some experts may also carry a Greenlight verification marker. Verification supports confidence, but you should still assess the expert and proposed engagement against your own requirements.
Will I be shown every expert on the Roster?
No. The purpose of the Roster is relevance, not volume. You will see a focused selection based on the challenge you describe rather than a long list of loosely related profiles.
Can I speak to an expert before buying?
Yes. Where a conversation is needed, you can speak directly with the expert to confirm the requirement, working approach, availability and commercial terms before committing to a larger engagement.
Who sets the scope and price?
The expert sets their services and commercial terms. You and the expert are responsible for agreeing the scope, deliverables, timescales, assumptions and price before work begins. Clear engagements protect both sides, so do not start work based on an informal or ambiguous brief.
How do payment and fees work?
The expert supplies and delivers the work. Greenlight facilitates eligible transactions through the platform and charges a flat 10% platform fee. Payments are processed securely through Stripe, and the relevant scope and payment terms should be agreed before the engagement starts.
What work can be booked through the platform?
Selected fixed-scope services priced at £1,000 or less, or $1,500 or less, may be available to book and pay for directly through the Fractional Roster. Where direct booking is available, this will be clearly shown on the expert's profile.
